Bolos L\u00eavedos are a gastronomic specialty typical of Vale das Furnas, parish of the Municipality of Povoa\u00e7\u00e3o, S\u00e3o Miguel Island, Azores. It is estimated that this Azorean sweet appeared in the mid-19th century.<\/p>\n
The origin of Bolos L\u00eavedos is related to the presence of the first settlers in S\u00e3o Miguel, constituting the basis of their food, at a time when it was difficult to obtain many different foods. Bolos L\u00eavedos are made almost in the same way as bread, so its production was easier.<\/p>\n
Currently, it is already a reference that attracts thousands of tourists, every year, to the island. However, they are also very popular with locals and residents of the other islands.
